The Joy Station plant will provide large, utility-scale energy storage to level power supply and demand created by intermittent renewable power generators. The storage facility is strategically and beneficially located outside of Greensburg, KS and has a number of competitive advantages compared to other storage facilities:

• Favorable salt thickness, depth, and composition for cavern development

• Available water for efficient and effective solution mining

• Sufficient disposal capacity onsite into the Arbuckle formation

• Adjacent to a natural gas compressor station capable of supplying natural gas for air warming

• Proximity to high density of wind turbines and high voltage power lines

• Sufficient distance from large population areas
